3RD CONCERTATION MEETING ON E-INFRASTRUCTURE
SPECIFIC THEME: FP6-FUNDED TEST-BEDS
20 November 2006, Helsinki
The European Commission's eInfrastructure Concertation initiative is aimed at stimulating cooperation and knowledge exchange between members of FP6-funded projects, at supporting cross-fertilisation and optimisation of synergies between network and grid projects as an essential factor for the success of the European Research Area (ERA).
New R&D projects have been launched as a result of the last calls of the IST Programme and are now in their early phase of activities. In that context, the European Commission with the support of the PANLAB project is organising a Concertation Meeting on 20 November 2006, in Helsinki, at Nokia Research Center.
This 3rd concertation event is more focussed on network related issues and integration of those new actions in the existing e-Infrastructure concertation mechanism. The emphasis will be put on the Research Networking Testbeds supporting experimentally driven research, which have been a key element for European Research, in particular in the area of networking.
The objectives of the meeting are:
- to provide an update on the on-going concertation efforts on networks and grids
- to discuss the trends and critical issues related to the future of research networking testbeds and to explore creation of synergies between projects
- to explore plans for future actions (in particular, within the context of the upcoming FP7)
- to pursue efforts to maximize synergy with other similar concertation initiatives
