Technology enhanced learning in the IST Work Programmes
- In the IST Work Programme 2003-2004, the objectives of technology-enhanced learning research were defined as "improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of learning, for individuals and organisations, independent of time, place and pace, through the development of open systems and services in support of ubiquitous, experiential and contextualised learning and virtual collaborative learning communities".
- Technology-enhanced learning was also one of the strategic objectives of the IST Work Programme 2005-2006. Focus of research to be funded was put on two areas:
- exploring interactions between the learning of the individual and that of the organisation in order to improve how current or emerging ICT can mutually enhance the learning processes for the individual and for the organisation;
- contributing to new understandings of the learning processes by exploring links between human learning, cognition and technologies.
- Another part of the IST Work Programme 2005-2006 with a relation to technology-enhanced learning was Strengthening the Integration of the ICT research effort in an Enlarged Europe. This aimed at developing and validating innovative and efficient ICT-based systems and services in key application areas for the societal and economical development of the enlarged Europe, with a view to strengthening the integration of the IST European Research Area. The key application areas targeted were: eLearning, eHealth, eGovernment and eBusiness.
