CONNECT - Designing the classroom of Tomorrow by using advanced technologies to connect formal and informal environments
CONNECT set out to exploit the potential of wireless communications and virtual and augmented reality to develop a new learning environment. Pedagogically, the focus was on supporting the integration of everyday 'free-choice' activities with the formal science curriculum map.

ELeGI - European Learning GRID Infrastructure
ELeGI intended to support a paradigm shift to learning considered as knowledge construction that combines experiential, contextualised and collaborative approaches in a personalised and ubiquitous way. The work plan was to define and implement a software architecture bringing together Grid, semantic and knowledge technologies.

iCLASS - Intelligent Distributed Cognitive-based Open Learning Systems for Schools
iCLASS plans to develop an intelligent virtual learning environment with distinct and innovative features - personalisation, dynamically adaptive learning objects, ontology-based architecture -, which pre-figure the next generation of learning systems. Research is expected to result in significant breakthroughs in learning styles, cognitive models and other aspects of knowledge acquisition and content management.

KALEIDOSCOPE aims at establishing a coherent and strong European Research Area for technology-enhanced learning. Bringing together experts from many disciplines, the network integrates cutting-edge research in the fields of educational, social, cognitive and computational sciences and emerging technologies. Among the project's activities are sharing of knowledge and tools, training of researchers, and exploring innovation and commercialisation of research.

Standards compliance and conformance testing are essential for accelerating market take-up of innovative technologies. The TELCERT project has developed software tools and other resources to help authors, suppliers and standards organisations improve the interoperability of e-learning systems and materials.

UNFOLD - (Understanding Networks of Learning Design) - FP6 project
This co-ordination action aimed at accelerating the adoption and further development of standards for e-learning systems in Europe, namely the IMS Learning Design specification. The project set up communities of practice, and held seminars and conferences to raise awareness and to spur interaction between members of the education and technology communities concerned.
