Technologies that improve the environment while contributing to competitiveness and growth remain largely untapped. The European Commission’s Environmental Technologies Action Plan sets out measures to lift the barriers restricting these technologies. It also ensures that the EU plays a leading role and mobilises stakeholders in government, research, industry and society to develop and apply them. |

Turning technology into business |

TRAIN-IT was supported under the Information Society Technologies programme, part of the EU’s Fifth Framework Programme. The intensive training and follow-up support in business skills it gave to over 150 IST project participants built an impressive record of successful business plans, start-ups, spin-offs and other entrepreneurial activities. |
