Outcome of the Evaluation of First Call for Proposals

Following the June 1999 deadline of the "Quality of Life" call for proposals, the first batch of proposals selected for funding received Commission approval on 11 November 1999.

On 10 November 1999, the Commission also reached a decision regarding the projects formally rejected. Letters of notification were sent out immediately. A second batch of 192 proposals for selection should be adopted early in December. All decisions, regarding proposals submitted for the June 1999 deadline, should be reached by the end of this year, not more than 6 months from the closing dates of the call.

The Programme management apologises for the delay in formally informing unsuccessful applicants, although scientific officers were and will remain available to provide indications and advice for possible resubmission within weeks of any evaluation round. Delays in 1999 were largely due to the political circumstances (linked to the resignation of the former Commission). Significant efforts will be made to shorten the feedback time for the next evaluations.
