10th European Congress on Biotechnology (ECB10) - "Biotechnological challenges in the new millenium"
8 - 11 July 2001
The 10th European Congress on Biotechnology (ECB10) "Biotechnological challenges in the new millenium", which is being organised by the European Federation of Biotechnology and supported by the European Commission, will provide an overview of the latest developments and future prospects in the rapidly developing field of biotechnology. The Congress will consist of different parallel symposia focusing on biotechnology in the agro-food, health, genomics, environmental, and chemical sectors.
The scientific programme of ECB10 will also present other issues of biotechnological interest. In particular, biosafety topics, public perception of biotechnology, educational and economic aspects will be identified and discussed.
In addition to plenary lectures, workshops and a wide range of symposia, the conference programme will offer to biotechnology enterprises the opportunity of presenting their products on the exhibition hall.
Within the context of the ECB10, the European Commission will organise a symposium on how EC research programmes contribute to biotechnology in Europe; and affect society. Moreover, the European Commission will also have a stand where information and documentation on the life sciences programmes can be obtained.
