This workshop has been organised in the frame of QoL KA2 'Control of Infectious Diseases'. It aimed at prioritising the communicable diseases that will benefit substantially from Central and Eastern European countries/European Union collaborative epidemiological research. It contributed to further enhancing the impact of the network for epidemiological surveillance. The output of the workshop is of particular relevance for proposals submitted for the final call of Key Action 2, closing date of 18th October 2001.
