Studying the brain and combating diseases of the nervous system

The objectives are to use genome information to understand better the functioning and dysfunctioning of the brain, in order to gain new insight into mental processes, to combat neurological disorders and diseases, and to improve brain repair. There will be support for research on the genetics and molecular pathology of a variety of neurological disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, the development of animal models where appropriate, and research that focuses on the normal development and function of the brain.
