Coordination of Research activities (ERA-NETs) and European Technology Platforms (ETPs)
The main aim is to fight structural weakness of European research. By their nature and means of implementation, the activities carried out within this programme are applicable to all fields of research and technology.
1) ERA-NETs
ERA CHEMISTRY: This ETP aims at establishing a bottom-up European Research Area in science-oriented chemical research without noticeable national, formal and research subject boundaries. Homepage: http://www.erachemistry.net/
MATERA: The EU funded ERA-NET project aims to encourage national and regional authorities to improve the dissemination in Europe of knowledge gained through materials research, and will also target the launch of joint activities in the field. ERA-NET project to strengthen collaboration in European materials science (On: CORDIS News, 3rd May 2005) Homepage: http://www.matera.fi Project Fact Sheet
MNT ERA-NET: It is this ETP's aim to enhance the competitiveness of the European industry by coordinating European support measures for micro-and nanotechnologies, and through the continuous improvement and streamlining of MNT support services. Homepage: http://www.mnt-era.net/ Project Fact Sheet
NANOSCI-ERA: This ETP's objective is taking care of the coordination of the national policies in fundamental research at the nanometric scale. 2) ETPs
EUMAT: This ETP was launched in order to assure optimal involvement of industry and other important stakeholders in the process of establishing R&D priorities in the area of advanced engineering materials and technologies. Homepage: http://www.eumat.org/
ECTP: This European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) will raise the construction sector to a higher worldbeating level of performance and competitiveness. This will be achieved by analysing the major challenges that the sector faces in terms of society, sustainability and technological development. Homepage: http://www.ectp.org/eurekabuild_projects.asp
MANUFUTURE: The aim of the European Manufacturing Technology Platform is to develop a "research and innovation" strategy based on a long term vision for a field where there are many technological and economic variables and in consequence to assist the transformation of the European manufacturing industry towards a knowledge-based economy and the achievement of a world leadership in manufacturing. Homepage: http://www.manufuture.org/
EURATEX: This Technology Platform (European Apparel and Textile Organisation), acts as the voice of the European textile and clothing industry, its main objective is to create an environment with in the European Union which is conducive to the manufacture of textile and clothing products. Homepage: http://www.euratex.org/
ETPIS: The European Technology Platform on Industrial Safety will intensify networking and stimulate technological and organisational improvement in risk management. It will be achieved thanks to a commonly agreed research agenda, but also by working on education, standardisation, transfer to industry and thanks to strong interactions with other TP concerned by risk issues (e.g. Sustainable Chemistry, Hydrogen…).
