IDENTIFYING POSSIBLE PATHFINDER TOPICS

Pathfinder topics will be selected on the basis of several interrelated criteria, including:

the potential for future impact of research in the chosen field,

the timeliness and urgency of such an action.

the "emerging" nature of the topic in Europe.

the ability for the initiative to add value to existing activities.

the overall portfolio of Pathfinder activities under way at the point in time.

Several parallel mechanisms are being set into motion to help identifying and develop possible actions. These include:

Direct interaction and consultation with and amongst the research community, e.g. via Support Actions .

High level consultation with scientific experts via workshops and discussions.

Assessment of recent relevant foresight activities, and;

Consultation with external scientific organisations and within the Commission itself.

Letter We also welcome direct input from the Scientific Community via this web site Ideas Inbox
