Recommendations from the FemStart Project

Since September 2006, the FemStart project has been looking at how the number of female scientists starting a high-tech business on graduation might be increased. By involving key stakeholders - political, regional and university representatives, female scientists themselves and organisations who have created and implemented programmes to support female scientists - a brochure of recommendations for organisations not involved in the six European debates has been published.

The recommendations are grouped into 5 main key findings, according to participant feedback: - Raising awareness for women-led high tech start-ups among all relevant actors; - Improving the availability of information available as a basis to start action; - Creating interest for support programmes that respect women specific aspects; - Exchanging good practice in the promotion of women high tech start-ups among support agencies and universities; - Development of vision for a policy towards more women in high tech companies.
