APRE: Alessandro Damiani is the new President

After 10 years as President, Prof. Ezio Andreta pass the baton to Dr. Alessandro Damiani.
Who is Alessandro Damiani?

Alessandro Damiani has been involved in European research matters for over 30 years, dealing mainly with policy design, priority setting, the decision-making process, programme management and international relations. More in detail, in the last years he was responsible for Transport Research Strategy in DG Research and Innovation. He also was the Head of the Science/Technology/Education section at the Delegation of the European Union in Washington D.C In the early 90s, and he was the founder and first director of the Italian Agency for the Promotion of European Research (APRE) in Rome.

The 3 vocations of APRE:

During APRE’s Partners meeting and Board of Directors, who elected him, the President described the vision of his mandate: a vision that recall and extend the spirit that was at the base of the creation of APRE.

“APRE must follow its 3 vocations: the European vocation, that is strengthening European research and innovation through a renewed Italian dynamism; the Italian vocation, that corresponds to the very own mission of APRE, that is support Italy to make the best use of the opportunities, not only meant as funding, but also as internationalisation of the Italian research. The vocation to assist its members to work in synergy with them in favour of local economies”
