CORDIS, the European Commission's Research & Development Information Service, is offering a new thematic service to promote European funding opportunities for nanotechnology-related research. The site, which adopts a new user-friendly navigation system, provides a central window on various nanotechnology-related key actions of the Fifth Framework programme (FP5). Users will find a global picture of open calls and research scope as well as a clear overview of the networking and structuring initiatives set up under FP5 and the European Research Area (ERA). In addition to easy identification of support to research in nanotechnology, the service aims to reinforce awareness on the co-operation opportunities, namely the current transatlantic collaborative opportunities. The service also offers access to latest news and events, as well as relevant contact details. Users will be invited to post their comments and suggestions to improve the web service in a dedicated forum. The service will be a valuable tool to follow new initiatives taken within the framework of the ERA to promote the variety of applications in, inter alia, nanoelectronics, nanomaterials and nanobiotechnology.
