The publishing system, a joint undertaking between DG XIII/D-2 and DRIVE is able to produce reports and other documents from DRIVE projects "on-demand" and supply them at cost price by mail to the orderer. The main objectives of setting up such a system are to promote the activities of DRIVE and the Advanced Transport Telematics programmes to a wider audience and to increase the availability of documents on the results of research arising from the projects. A wider aim of the project is to test the demand for the results of research arising out of specific research projects. A catalogue of reports and deliverables is now available covering the first DRIVE programme (DRIVE I, 1989-1991). The catalogue begins with a description of the objectives of DRIVE and its successor the Advanced Transport Telematics programme and goes on to describe the "road sector challenge", before finally emphasizing the requirement for greater European collaboration. Projects which made up DRIVE I are listed, and details provided of all the public reports available: the contractor, author, publication date, availability, number of pages and price. The reports described in the catalogue are available from the address indicated in the reference that appears under each entry. A number of the reports are available directly from the authors, full details of which are given; however, the majority are held in DRIVE's new on-demand publishing system. Information on "how to order" is given in the catalogue. A second catalogue, which will summarize the results of the Advanced Transport Telematics (DRIVE II) programme, will be produced at the end of 1994.
