The European Commission has published a restricted call for proposals for the developments of infrastructural tools in information technology and telecommunications facilitating the establishment of conformance testing services. The tools will complement the existing Conformance Testing Services (CTS) programme. This programme is aimed at establishing "conformity to standards" testing services in telecommunications and information technology. The restricted procedure comprises two phases. The first, which is initiated by the present call, requires potential bidders to submit applications (declarations of interest). The credentials of the applicants are examined and, at the start of the second phase, invitations to submit proposals will be sent to those who are acceptable. Proposals conforming to the specified criteria must then be submitted by a date specified in the information package. The abbreviated titles of technical areas which will be covered by this call comprise the following: - CATG: Computer-Aided Test Generation; - GCI: Generic Compilers or Interpreters; - OTE: Open Test Environment. Consortia may submit proposals addressing one or more of the above technical areas. However, each proposal submitted must address only one technical area. Applications must be sent to: European Commission Directorate-General for Industry Unit B3-RP3 5/30 Testing and Certification Secretariat 200 rue de la Loi B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32-2-2968286; Fax +32-2-2953877
