The First World Congress on Applications of Transport Telematics and Intelligent Vehicle-Highway Systems took place from 30 November to 3 December 1994 in Paris. The event was co-sponsored by the European Commission, ERTICO (Europe), IVHS America (North America) and VERTAS (Pacific Rim). The Advanced Transport Telematics programme (DRIVE II) of the European Commission sponsored a major part of the technical sessions of the Congress, which presented the results of 65 projects. The proceedings of the conference, the theme of which was "Towards an intelligent highway transport system", have now been published in the following six volumes: - Volume I: . System architecture; .
