The European Commission, DG III, has published a call for expressions of interest for the provision of assistance in various technical, administrative and organizational tasks occurring in the specific RTD programme for information technologies (ESPRIT). The specific areas covered by this call include: - Assistance in development, writing, editing and layout of administrative and organizational documentation in English or French. This may include preparation for electronic hypertext documents; - Assistance in development, writing, editing and layout of technical documents (e.g. reports, project results descriptions, programme documentation and press information) in various Community languages. This may include the production and maintenance of electronic multimedia documents (e.g. WWW pages); - Assistance in preparation of the technical or scientific programme or documentation for conferences, workshops, exhibitions and other information and awareness events, as well as assistance in reporting on such events; - Technical assistance in analysis and assessment of results of projects within the ESPRIT programme against scientific, industrial and economic objectives of these projects and the programme. Such assistance goes beyond standard monitoring of projects by EC staff and might include visits and interviews at industrial sites of project participants and interviews with other relevant actors, as well as organization of joint workshops of project consortia at which project results are reported and discussed. These areas will be subdivided according to the following fields of technical expertise: - Software technologies; - Technologies for components and subsystems; - Multimedia systems; - Open microprocessor systems initiative; - High-performance computing and networking; - Integration in manufacturing; - Technologies for business processes; - Long-term research in information technology; - General information technologies. Persons or organizations who are interested in having their name entered on a list of potential contractors are invited to submit an application. The authorizing department will draw up a list of candidates who meet the criteria set out. Each time a specific contract is to be concluded relating to the fields described above, the authorizing department will send the specifications to all candidates on the list, or to some of them selected on the basis of special criteria for the contract concerned.
