Leg movement restored using innovative wireless neural interface
Three EU-funded projects – NEUWALK, WALK AGAIN and E-WALK – have contributed to the development of a wireless ‘brain-spinal interface’ that bypasses spinal cord injuries and restores intentional walking movement to a temporarily paralysed leg.

The Nanomedicine Translation Advisory Board (NanomedTAB) offers a free-of-charge mentoring program to promising nanomedicine teams and projects at any stage of development to assess, advise and accelerate their translation and get to commercial application faster and more reliably. To reach this objective, the TAB counts on 11 experts from the industry, specifically recruited for their diverse, extensive and complementary experience in the translation of innovative technologies for healthcare.

CuraBone Project, Kick-off Meeting

Partners of the European CuraBone project will meet in Zaragoza. Bone injuries represent a high cost for the European health system, requiring corrective surgery to fix the bones. Thanks to the current advance in image-based technologies, the reconstruction of models that are exact copies of patient specific bones is possible. This is a project Horizon 2020 (EU funding for research & innovation); Marie Curie Actions.

Uncovering partners in crime: Stroke and Alzheimer’s disease
New EU-funded project CoSTREAM (www.costream.eu) targets the common mechanisms and pathways of stroke, Alzheimer’s disease to improve disease prevention and treatment, by combining clinical, genetic, epidemiologic, metabolic and radiologic research to develop an organ-on-a-chip in vitro model for the blood-brain connection that will revolutionise drug-development. CoSTREAM investigates 12000 cases of stroke, 20000 cases of Alzheimer's disease & 74000 healthy controls with 25 years of follow-up.
