New energy: smart cities test new urban technologies
Cities represent three quarters of energy consumption and 80% of CO2 emissions worldwide, and with urbanisation expected to continue, a growing number of ‘Lighthouse’ cities across Europe have taken up the challenge of testing new ‘smart’ energy-saving solutions in large-scale test-beds under the impulse of European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

Tidal energy reaches another milestone
The EU-funded FLOTEC project’s tidal turbine has now matched the performance of established offshore wind turbines, generating over 18MWh (megawatt-hour) within a continuous 24 hour testing period and heralding an age of more competitive tidal energy supply.

Kolejny krok w kierunku wykorzystania energii pływów
Turbina pływowa stworzona w ramach finansowanego przez UE projektu FLOTEC obecnie uzyskała osiągi porównywalne z morskimi turbinami wiatrowymi, wytwarzając ponad 18 MWh (megawatogodzin) energii w ciągłym 24-godzinnym okresie testowym i ogłaszając nową epokę bardziej konkurencyjnych dostaw energii pływów morskich.

Otro hito en la investigación de la energía mareomotriz
