Protéger les oliviers d'une maladie mortelle
Le projet XF-ACTORS, financé par l'UE, a récemment rendu compte de ses travaux de modélisation de maladie, qui sont au cœur de sa stratégie de gestion intégrée visant à contrôler la propagation de l'agent pathogène Xylella fastidi-osa (XF), qui présente une grave menace pour les oliveraies d'Italie du sud.

Estudio de los cambios climáticos abruptos del pasado para predecir los venideros
El cambio climático ya es de por sí preocupante como para añadirle la posibilidad de que se produzcan incidencias del tipo Dansgaard-Oeschger. No obstante esta posibilidad es muy real y es necesario por tanto conocer mejor estos eventos, cómo influyeron en la Tierra y cómo lo harán en el futuro. Los testigos de hielo mejor conservados del mundo podrían ofrecer la información necesaria para tal fin y además mejorar los modelos climáticos disponibles.

Abrupt climate change events from the past could help predict the ones ahead
Coping with climate change will already be difficult enough without worrying about Dansgaard-Oescheger (DO) events that could come on top of it. However, their possible occurrence cannot be dismissed: We need to know more about these events, how they impacted our planet in the past, and how they could continue to do so in the future. The world’s most well-preserved ice cores could provide all this information while allowing for improved climate models.

Les évènements de changement climatique soudains du passé pourraient nous aider à prévoir ceux de l'avenir
Faire face au changement climatique sera déjà suffisamment difficile sans devoir s'inquiéter des évènements de Dansgaard-Oescheger (DO) qui pourraient venir se greffer. Or nous ne pouvons pas rejeter l'éventualité qu'ils se produisent. Nous devons en savoir davantage sur ces évènements, la façon dont ils ont influencé notre planète par le passé, et comment ils pourraient continuer à le faire à l'avenir. Les carottes glaciaires les mieux préservées du monde pourraient fournir toutes ces informations tout en permettant des modèles climatiques améliorés.

Zdarzenia nagłych zmian klimatu w przeszłości mogą pomóc przewidywać przyszłe
Radzenie sobie ze zmianą klimatu będzie już wystarczająco trudne bez martwienia się o zdarzenia Dansgaard-Oeschger (D-O), które mogą jej towarzyszyć. Jednakże nie można ich wykluczyć. Powinniśmy wiedzieć więcej o tych zdarzeniach: jak wpływały na naszą planetę w przeszłości i jak mogą na nią wpływać w przyszłości. Najlepiej zachowane rdzenie lodowe na świecie mogą dostarczyć informacji, które pozwolą udoskonalić modele klimatyczne.

Gli eventi di cambiamento climatico improvviso del passato potrebbero aiutare a prevedere quelli futuri
Sarà già abbastanza difficile far fronte al cambiamento climatico senza doversi preoccupare degli eventi di Dansgaard-Oescheger che potrebbero andare ad aggiungersi al fenomeno. Le probabilità che questi si verifichino non possono tuttavia essere trascurate. Abbiamo bisogno di conoscere meglio questi eventi, l’impatto che hanno avuto sul nostro pianeta in passato e come potrebbero continuare a interessare il clima in futuro. I nuclei di ghiaccio meglio conservati al mondo potrebbero racchiudere tutte queste informazioni permettendoci di costruire modelli climatici più precisi.

Plötzliche Klimawechsel der Vergangenheit könnten dazu beitragen, kommende vorauszuberechnen
Es ist schon schwierig genug, den Klimawandel zu bewältigen, ohne sich dabei Gedanken über Dansgaard-Oeschger-Ereignisse (DO-Ereignisse) zu machen, die eventuell hinzukommen könnten. Dennoch ist ihr mögliches Auftreten nicht von der Hand zu weisen: Wir müssen mehr über diese Ereignisse erfahren, beispielsweise wie sie unseren Planeten in der Vergangenheit beeinflusst haben und inwiefern sie es auch in Zukunft tun könnten. Die besterhaltenen Eiskerne der Welt könnten all diese Informationen liefern und gleichzeitig verbesserte Klimamodelle ermöglichen.
