FP6 Funding Instruments for European Industrial Research

A new eight-page colour leaflet from the European Commission provides a more light-hearted overview of funding instruments offered for industrial research in the EU Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). The objective of research under this Thematic Priority (Nanotechnologies, knowledge-based Materials and new Production - NMP) is to achieve breakthrough through greater integration of partners, sectors and skills.

This leaflet explains in a visually illustrative, innovative and simple way the different funding instruments for EU industrial research. Thus, its target end-users are potential proposers and all those interested in the NMP Priority.

The layout is simple and effective, showing the character Europides pondering on the five different FP6 funding instruments to identify the most appropriate use of each one in order to cross the river of knowledge.

The return of Europides

Europides is a friendly cartoon character, whose job is to help newcomers to European industrial research to understand the various mechanisms for funding research under the Sixth Framework Programme. A series of eight posters featuring Europides is now available here!

In September, the European Commission published an eight-page colour leaflet to explain the funding instruments available for industrial research in the Sixth RTD Framework Programme (FP6).

Research under FP6’s Thematic Priority 3 (Nanotechnologies and nano-sciences, knowledge-based multifunctional materials and new production processes and devices, or NMP) is intended to achieve breakthrough in industrial research through greater integration of partners, sectors and skills. In the brochure a cartoon character, Europides, demonstrates the different options for crossing the river of knowledge.

Now the images from the brochure are available as a series of eight free-standing posters, which can be downloaded for local printing at A3 or A4 size, as an aid to presentations to potential proposers.

Europides: the movie

Europides, the friendly cartoon character who helps newcomers to European industrial research to understand the Sixth Framework Programme's different funding mechanisms, is now the star of an animated presentation.

This animation shows the adventure of Europides trying to cross the river of knowledge using various tools, which symbolise different EC instruments for funding research. This approach will allow him to achieve innovation, through the integration of partners, activities and skills.
The European Commission has already published an eight-page leaflet to explain the funding instruments available for industrial research in the Sixth RTD Framework Programme (FP6), and a series of eight free-standing posters based on the images in the leaflet.
Now the same material is available as an animated presentation with sound effects. The presentation is available in two versions:

  • a 14-minute slide-show, which runs automatically, and is suitable for display on conference or exhibition stands.

  • an animated set of slides in which each step is activated by a mouse-click, designed to support a live presentation by a speaker.
