Since 1997 the Hamburg "new media at work" initiative has aided companies of both national and international origin and has made sure that all new companies to the region benefit from optimal conditions. Firms that have benefited from this service include multinationals such as AOL, iXL and also IBM, who now have an eBusiness Innovation centre in the region.
