Research programme (Euratom, EEC) to be implemented by the Joint Research Centre - High-temperature materials -, 1980-1983

During this phase of the JRC's high-temperature materials programme, preparatory work for the setting- up of a data bank on the properties of materials to be used in new energy applications was completed. Research directed towards petrochemical conversion, coal conversion and other high-temperature processes made it possible in 1981 to study the mechanisms governing the mechanical properties and corrosion behaviour of heat-resistant steels and alloys.
To develop advanced high-temperature technologies linked directly to progress in materials R&D, with a view to increasing the efficiency, design life, reliability and safety of high temperature process plants using low grade fuel.
