manaGEmEnt and leisure middleWare for tHemE parks and Zoo

Objective

"The goal of GEEWHEZ proposal is to develop a customised Resource Planning solution for Animal and Theme Parks (ATPs). Currently, off the shelf solutions, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Customised Platforms (CP), are being employed to meet this end, but such solutions do not meet ATPs' needs due to lack of flexibility or, on the other hand, extensive programming and DB design skills required to customize them.
GEEWHEZ aims to deliver a platform as flexible as a CP but with the usability of an ERP. Working on a distributed middleware, in charge of collecting and managing information coming from the different software modules and clients, GEEWHEZ will orchestrate all the operations among all its modules to provide a complete and personalized service and will offer different level of access (administrator, user, visitor, developer, etc.), depending on the user profile, based on an authentication procedure.
GEEWHEZ is organised into 7 work-packages (WPs). 4 WPs contain software development, whilst a fifth WP covers pilot testing activities. A further WP deals with dissemination and exploitation of results, whereas the last WP concerns project management of the project.
The consortium setup has 6 SMEs and 5 RTD performers. However, ATP operations must address a variety of issues, such as: monitoring animal welfare parameters, inventory management of extensive range of raw materials, customer requirements management, environmental parameters monitoring, etc.. To meet these requirements, the background of RTD performers is diverse but on the same time complementary, ranging from ICT, wireless data transmission, Operations Management and Marine biology. This wealth of knowledge ensures the successful completion of the project. In addition, 3 SMEs from the ATP industry ensure robust requirements definition, whereas a fourth SME in the field of software development ensures successful exploitation of the final product."
