DULBECCO TELETHON INSTITUTE-INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY FOR POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH TRAINING

Objective

With this proposal we are seeking an economical support from the European Union to implement an International Programme of Postdoctoral Research Training to enhance the international dimension of the fellows operating in the Dulbecco Telethon Institute (DTI) and to provide an excellent training to experienced researchers in the field of Research in the Biomedical Sciences that will likely contribute to the development of Research Careers in the European Research Area.
The DTI is a multi-disciplinary Institution whose laboratories have different locations throughout Italy. Inspired at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) in the USA, the DTI program is highly competitive. Notably, this Institution is composed of incoming or reintegrated individuals that have trained abroad. The DTI was itself established following the rules of transnational mobility required for this COFUND scheme and therefore the DTI PIs are very sensitive to the importance of transnational mobility. PIs are recognized leaders in developmental biology, epigenetics, structural or computational biology, mitochondrial, neurodegenerative, neuromuscular and kidney diseases applied to genetic diseases. Thus, DTI is a multidisciplinary reservoir of original knowledge.
We plan to recruit highly skilled incoming and reintegrating experienced researchers thorugh a gender-balanced, transparent and meritocratic selection process, in agreement with the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers of the European Charter for Researchers.
We have designed a structure of management that will ensure an efficient management of the Programme and will provide an exceptional package of employment benefits to experienced scientists recruited under the Programme.
Finally, we plan to contribute to a life-long-training of recruited postdocs by creating the most favourable conditions to foster their scientific productivity, and by providing deepening and broadening of knowledge training.
