Objective
The proposed project aims to support the ScC Chair in the efficient and timely achievement of the ScC’s objectives in 2008. It will support and assist Professor F.C. Kafatos, Chair of the ERC’s ScC, in his diverse responsibilities which include the achievement of efficient and effective functioning of the ScC, its integrated operation together with the ERC’s Dedicated Implementation Structure (DIS), and effective interfacing with the scientific community, other funding agencies and the political institutions of the European Union. The project will provide administrative and research support ranging from secretarial tasks to assistance in developing policy papers related to the work of the Chair of the ERC Scientific Council for a period of one year. The potential impact of the project will be to ensure an efficient and well-managed operation of the ERC ScC. By providing high level local support for the EcC Chairman who is based at Imperial College London, the project will complement the activities of and allow efficient interfacing with the DIS. Overall, the project is expected to contribute significantly to the implementation of the Ideas specific programme. This proposal is one of three linked proposals, providing support to the Chair and Vice- Chairs of the European Research Council Scientific Council (ERC ScC). The proposals are linked by means of common sections in their description of work and shared deliverables. The proposed project will be a continuation of ongoing project “Support to the Chair of the ERC Scientific Council 2006 – 2007” Contract No. 044505 (ERCSC-CHAIR-SUP).
