Non-adiabatic quantum dynamics in novel optical superlattices

Objective

"The interdisciplinary boundary between the fields of quantum information science, condensed matter, and atomic physics is at the heart of the new field of ""quantum engineering"". One of the most important tools in this domain is ultracold atoms in optical lattices which are an ideal for testing condensed matter models and realising scalable quantum computation.

For pratical implementation of quantum technology the challenge lies in realising the necessary dynamics with sufficient speed, sensitivity and robustness. This project will combine cutting-edge technologies of high resolution imaging and non destructive probing with an innovative realisation of super lattices to realise novel dynamics on the scale or microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic atom numbers. In addititon, I will use my extensive experience in the field of rapid, non-adiabatic processes to speed-up these processes allowing the step from proof of principle to the extremely high fidelities demanded for practical implementations."

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
