Continuous Catalytic Transformations: from optimization in MICRO systems to INDustrial production

Objective

This project is aiming at providing the training for 2 ESR in the framework of a integrated approach for heterogeneous catalysis in continuous reactors. It will combine design, preparation of structure materials and their integration in lab scale flow systems for catalytic properties evaluation . This part will be done in University of Bordeaux 1, France, where the Phoenics team of the Institut des Sciences Moléculaires is located. This development will be done in close collaboration with the enabling chemical technology team of UCB Pharma in Braine l’Alleud, Belgium.
Once optimized, systems will be implemented to larger scale production chains. Two mains reactions will be studied in this project, the Friedel Craft /Mannich reaction and chiral conjugate reduction for which the industrial partner has a great and immediate interest. Both reactions are catalyzed by metal complexes.
It will provide an original and priceless training for ESR who will gain skills in diverse areas from fundamental catalysis and organic synthesis to process development. This will be achieved through the early stage integration of novel fluidic tools in the laboratory. Additionally, they will get a sound knowledge of industrial expectations and regulations which will prepare them for their future leading position in Europe.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
