Objectif
DEVELOPMENT OF ROCKFILL TECHNIQUES FOR A COMPLETE EXTRACTION OF BASE METAL ORE WITHOUT DAMAGE OF THE SURFACE (SUBSIDENCE).
EXISTING BASE METAL MINES ARE FAMILIARIZED WITH BACKFILL MINING TECHNIQUE.
UNTIL NOW GOOD RESULTS HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED FOR THE COMPLETE EXTRACTION OF THE OREBODY IN RESPECT OF SUFFICIENT SAFETY FOR PERSONNEL AND MACHINES AT THE MINING FACE. THE NEWLY DEVELOPED SLINGER BELT STOWING TECHNIQUE AT THE MEGGEN MINE IS AN ECONOMICAL ALTERNATIVE FOR MINES WITH DIESEL-DRIVEN MACHINES AND EXPECIALLY IRREGULAR DIPPING CONDITIONS OF THE DEPOSIT.
HOWEVER, THERE IS A LACK OF INFORMATION AS TO THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE HOST ROCK IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF MINED OUT ROOMS AND ON THE SURFACE.
THE PROJECT CONCERNS FOLLOWING MAIN TOPICS :
1) TO MINE OUT THE OREBODY WITHIN A RELATIVE BIG AREA (22.000M2) COMPLETELY BACKFILLED WITH CEMENTED ROCK FILL AFTERWARDS,
2) TO MAKE LABORAOTRY TESTS AS TO DIFFERENT FILL QUALITIES VARIYNG CEMENT AND WATER CONTENT AS WELL AS DIFFERENT CEMENTING MATERIALS,
3) TO MEASURE BACKFILL STRENGTH IN SITU AND POSSIBLE SUBSIDENCE ABOVE THE MINED OUT ROOMS
4) TO ACCOMPANY THE RESEARCH WORK BY TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC SYSTEMATIC STUDIES AND ANALYSIS WITH THE HELP OF COMPUTER MODELLING
THE RESEARCH WORK WILL BE THE BASIS FOR THE COMPLETE EXTRACTION OF SOME 3,5 MILL TONS OF BASE METAL ORE IN ANOTHER PART OF THE MEGGEN MINE.
