DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMATIC SYSTEM FOR GRADING WOOD OBJECTS FROM MANY GRADING PARAMETERS

Objective



THE OPTOELECTRONIC SYSTEM CONSISTING OF SOLID STATE (SEMI-CONDUCTOR) CAMERAS AND MICROPROCESSORS IS BEING DESIGNED FOR GRADING WOOD STAVES FROM SURFACE PARAMETERS SUCH AS LENGTH, FORM, CRACKS, KNOTS, WANES, MISCOLOURATIONS, AND OTHERS

THE WORK UNTIL NOW HAS BEEN ON:

1. BUILDING TEST JIG FOR MAKING EXPERIMENTS WITH LIGHT AND OPTICS AT FULL SPEED (2 M/SEC.) BASED ON THE STATIC EXPERIMENTS.

2. MAKING SPECTRAL ANALYSIS TO OPTIMIZE OPTICAL FILTER-IN AND TO FIND THE DIFFERENCES IN OPTICAL FILTERING QUOTIENTS.

AFTER FINISHING THE TWO ABOVE-MENTIONED TASKS THERE WILL BE A PHASE OF BUILDING UP AN OVERVALL COMPLETE TEST SYSTEM.

AFTER FINISHING THIS THERE WILL BE A PHASE OF DESIGNING THE COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR THE GRADING OF 14 PARAMETERS OF THE WOOD STAVES INTO 4 DIFFERENT CLASSES OF FLOOR QUALITIES.
