IMPROVEMENT IN PRODUCTION, METALLURGICAL TREATMENT AND CONTROL OF ALUMINIUM SECONDARY CASTING ALLOYS: A CONTRIBUTION TO UPGRADING ALUMINIUM SECONDARY ALLOY QUALITY AND USES.

Objective

THIS WORK AIMS AT THE APPLICATION OF THE LADLE METALLURGY IN THE SECONDARY ALUMINIUM INDUSTRY.

THE WORKING PROGRAMME CONCERNS WITH:

- CONTINUOUS PROCESS FOR DEMAGGING, DEGASSING, PURIFYING (OXIDES REMOVAL) A LIQUID ALUMINIUM FLOW BETWEEN A MELTING FURNACE AND A CASTING BAND: MAIN RESEARCH IS TO DETERMINE ALL CONDITIONS OF USE OF CHLORINE INJECTOR (SPECIAL ROTOR) (SPECIAL REACTION CHAMBER) TO OBTAIN A GOOD REACTION YIELD AND A STABILIZED GOOD LEVEL OF QUALITY IN THE ALLOY.
OTHER ASPECTS OF THE RESEARCH ARE TO DETERMINE THE NECESSITY OF USE OF OTHER SPECIAL TECHNOLOGIES LIKE FILTRATION, INERT GAS BUBBLING AS COMPLEMENT OF THE MAIN PROCESS OR AS A NECESSITY FOR SPECIAL APPLICATIONS.

- LADLE METALLURGY IN CASE OF LIQUID ALUMINIUM ALLOY BY ROAD TRANSPORTATION: MAIN RESEARCH IS TO DETERMINE SHAPE, SIZE, OPERATING CONDITIONS OF A SPECIAL GAS INJECTOR TO PROCESS THE LIQUID ALLOY WITHOUT ANY CONSEQUENCE ON THE NA AND CA LEVEL IN THE ALLOY.
INJECTOR WILL BE DETERMINED BY THEORETICAL STUDY, ADJUSTED ON WATER SIMULATION AND FINALLY TESTED ON LIQUID ALUMINIUM.
ALLOY WILL BE CONTROLLED BY SPECTROMETER, BY METALLOGRAPHY AND BY SPECIAL MEASURE OF DENSITY FOLLOWING AT NEW CONTROL METHOD TO DEFINE.
