Cel TO INCREASE UNDERSTANDING OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND OF THE MECHANISMS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DETERIORIATION OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND MONUMENTS, AND TO HELP PROVIDE A SCIENTIFIC BASIS FOR CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION.
