REDUCTION OF NOX EMISSIONS IN BUBBLING FLUIDIZED BED BY STAGED COMBUSTION.

Obiettivo

REDUCTION OF NOX EMISSION FROM FLUIDIZED BED BOILERS TO LESS THAN 200 MG/NM TO THE POWER OF 3 IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PRESENT PROJECT, WHEREAS KNOWN METHODS ACHIEVE ABOUT 500 MG/NM TO THE POWER OF 3. BENEFITS WILL BE REDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION BY ACID RAIN, CAUSED BY FORMATION OF NITRIC ACIDS.
Research undertaken on 2 pilot plants has demonstrated that:
Reduction of nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide emissions to 200 mg/nm{3} by staged combustion of coal in a stationary fluidised bed combustor (SFBC) is possible, while maintaining excellent combustion efficiency.
The particle size of the bed material has a great impact of the emission of nitrogen oxides.
The design of an optimal secondary air injection system is necessary to obtain the results mentioned above.
A prototype was made available on 06/03/90
NOX LEVELS OF FLUIDIZED BED BOILERS ARE LOWER THAN THOSE OF SOME CONVENTIONAL TECHNOLOGIES. AT THE LOWER END OF ITS EMISSION RANGE, FBC IS CAPABLE OF SATISFYING EXISTING NETHERLANDS AND EC EMISSION STANDARDS. HOWEVER, IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THESE STANDARDS WILL BECOME MORE SEVERE IN THE FUTURE. THEREFORE, A LOW-NOX GENERATING FLUIDIZED BED COMBUSTION TECHNIQUE HAS TO BE DEVELOPED.
