Objetivo THE CENTRAL THESIS OF THIS WORK IS THE POTENTIAL WIDESPREAD AND EFFICIENT APPLICATION OF BIOCLIMATIC ARCHITECTURE TO DIFFERENT RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS. BIOCLIMATIC ARCHITECTURE DEALS WITH A COMPLEX SYSTEM WHERE PASSIVE AND ACTIVE SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEMS ARE INTELLIGENTLY INTEGRATED IN THE CONVENTIONAL SYSTEM. THIS TYPE OF DESIGN IS PURSUED BY AN ARTICULATED METHOD WHICH ENTAILS THE ELABORATION OF THE SERIES OF PROJECTS PRESENTED AT THE PERFORMANCE LEVEL, THE ANALYSIS AND VERIFICATION OF THEIR ENERGY EFFICIENCY USING A COMPUTER SIMULATION PROGRAM, AND FINALLY, A TECHNOLOGICAL FORMULATION OF THE BUILDING SYSTEM. PROJECTS HAVE BEEN CATEGORIZED ACCORDING TO : - CLIMATE (THREE CLIMATIC AREAS IN EUROPE) - BUILDING TYPE (TOWER, TOW HOUSE, SINGLE HOUSE, ETC.) - CONSTRUCTION METHOD : "EASY CONSTRUCTION" SUITABLE FOR "DO IT YOURSELF" PROFESSIONAL "OPEN SYSTEMS". IN THE PROCESS OF INTRODUCTION OF BIOCLIMATIC DESIGN THREE LEVELS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED : - RESEARCH LEVEL - IMPROVEMENT OF TRADITIONAL SYSTEMS - INNOVATIVE BUILDINGS. THIS STUDY, WHICH IS MAINLY OF A RESEARCH (FIRST STAGE) NATURE, SERVES AS A DEMONSTRATIVE EXPLORATION INTO THE MANY POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITIES PRESENTED BY NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND PRACTICES EMERGING IN TODAY'S BUILDING PRODUCTION. IT IS A PIONEERING STUDY OF THE TYPE OF EXPLORATIVE RESEARCH NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND A MAJOR PART OF THE PROBLEMS POSED BY A COMPLEX BUILDING PROCESS (RELATIVE TO ALL BUILDING SECTORS, INCLUDING THE RESIDENTIAL), AND TO DEVELOP, IN RESPONSE, RESPONSIBLE ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTIONS.
