REALISATION OF CODE MODELS ON THE PHYSICO-CHEMICAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE FISSION PRODUCTS AND OF THE AEROSOLS IN THE PRIMARY CIRCUIT OF A LWR NUCLEAR PLANT IN THE COURSE OF A SEVERE ACCIDENT.

Objectif

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE RESEARCH ARE THE FOLLOWING:

- RE-EXAMINATION OF THE BASIC CHEMICAL SPECIES OF VOLATILE FISSION PRODUCTS AT THE ENTRY OF THE RCS AND STUDY OF THEIR PHYSICO-CHEMICAL BEHAVIOUR DURING THE INTERACTION WITH THE CARRIER, THE AEROSOL AND THE SURFACES INSIDE THE PRIMARY CIRCUIT;

- IMPROVEMENT AND REALISATION OF THE CALCULATION METHODOLOGY FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE TRANSPORT OF THE FISSION PRODUCTS AND AEROSOL THROUGH THE PRIMARY CIRCUIT, WITH THE INSERTION OF NEW MODELS ON THE MECANISMS OF DEPOSITION/RE-SUSPENSION OF THE AEROSOL IN TURBULENT CONDITIONS AND OF CONDENSATION OF THE WATER STEAM.

THE TASKS WILL BE DIVIDED ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

1. CHARACTERISATION OF THE CHEMICAL SPECIES AND OF THE VOLATILE FISSION PRODUCTS AT THE ENTRY OF THE PRIMARY CIRCUIT.

2. DEPOSITION OF THE AEROSOLS DUE TO THE CURVES AND IRREGULARITIES OF THE MAINS.

3. DEPOSITION OF THE AEROSOLS IN THE MAINS IN TURBULENCE CONDITIONS.

4. DEPOSITION OF THE AEROSOLS IN THE MAINS IN TWO-PHASE FLOW CONDITIONS.

5. RE-SUSPENSION OF THE AEROSOLS IN THE PRIMARY CIRCUIT.
