ACCESS [PHASE 2]

Obiettivo

Petroleum exploration involves gathering data from numerous sources. These data are highly heterogeneous and costly to gather.
Sophisticated interpretation methods are the key to successful exploration and production entreprises. Those methods were developed on a case by case basis to meet specific requirements.
Since they were developed at different times, they are not consistent from the technological point of view.
The need for an integrated, sophisticated and up-to date system arose when management accounted for the productivity gain to be expected from such an integrated system.
This project covers most of the needs of an explorer and reservoir engineer. All basic tasks concerning the reservoir evaluation are carried out (log evaluation, mapping, estimates of hydrocarbons in place) as well as geophysical processing and interpretation. A door is open to the reservoir engineering through a dual pre and post processor.
Commercialisation of the software under the name of INTEGRAL and finalization of its development has been entrusted to PETROSYSTEMS, subsidiary of C. G. G. (Compagnie generale de Giophysique).
This company acquired the rights to grant licence contracts to other enterprises or companies non member of GERTH having conducted the project.
Today there exists no other software as integral and complete, that is equivalent to INTEGRAL.
For practical purposes, the project was divided into two phases, each one being subject of one contract with the EEC.
This note deals with Phase II of the project. During phase I (see TH/01047/85/FR) the standards tools (kernel), the basic applications dealing with geology and geophysics were developed.
Phase II specifically deals with the integration of these applications as developed during Phase I. The procedures in charge of ensuring the link between applications will be built up during this phase.
Four main are involved during the second phase of the ACCESS project.
The seismic imagery. This complementary module integrates the geophysicist work on high resolution graphic screen.
Two and three dimensions cross-sections and bloc diagrams will be made available over which layering and hydrocarbons bearing zones will be made visible.
The tools necessary to interpolate between wells either a geological and/or a seismic cross-section will be developed.
A full set of applications will be made available to interface those developed during Phase I with reservoir geology and reservoir engineering.
