To demonstrate the feasability of pv equipment for various applications in scattered urban areas with high grid connection costs. To promote the development and diffusion of pv equipment.
No outstanding technical results were obtained; by and large the operation is satisfactory.
The specific investment cost were high : 42 ECU/Wp.
Lessons learned can be summarized as follows :
- Proper maintenance of such installations is vital. This maintenance should be made by the same people, that do the traditional maintenance of public lighting.
- The pv lighting is rather adequate for temporary installations during the phase when conventional electrification is not yet available.
67 different pv applications with a total installed power of 7.
5 kWp in different fields of application (lighting for public areas , telephone boxes and traffic lights are installed. In details : 36 pv lamps on public areas of type "road"=type I : 36 W.
26 of type "footpath = type II : 18 W.
2 lights for 2 telephone boxes, 3 flashing traffic lights.
