RESIDUAL FOREST BIOMASS AND LIMESTONE CONTINUOUS CONVERSION INTO CHARCOAL PELLETS AND QUICKLIME

Objetivo

To construct an integrated plant for charcoal and quicklime generation from 9100 t/y of eucalyptus wastes.

4500 t/y of eucalyptus leaves as by-product from an extraction plant of essential oil and 4600 t/y of tree tops and other wood wastes are collected to produce charcoal.
The wastes are gasified in a "Carbonizing Gasifying Chamber" to produce 200 kg/h of charcoal and 0.2 toe/h of fuel gas.
The gas is burnt in a vertical counter-current lime kiln derived from a
"C.G.C." gasifier to produce 1 t/h of chemical grade-lime.
Exhaust fumes produce steam in a recovery boiler before drying wood wastes and charcoal in two separate dryers.
At the bottom of the inclined "CGC", an extraction cooling system permits the direct agglomeration of the charcoal into barbecue pellets. Innovation lies in peripheral equipments and integration.
