UNMANNED OFFSHORE PRODUCTION PLATFORM [PHASE 4]

Obiettivo

The aim of PLATINE project is to specify a central production platform, unmanned, teleoperated from a remote control room, with a limited number of visits for inspection and overhauling. The intermediate aims consist in working out and testing pilot units related to sub-systems and testing new equipment. This project has been divided into 4 phases : PLATINE-Phase I (1986-1988); PLATINE-Phase II (1987-1989); PLATINE-Phase III (1988-1991) and PLATINE-Phase IV (1989-1992). The present project deals with Phase IV.
A) Separation and oil treatment
As conventional processes have not been questioned after due consideration, PLATINE works have concerned mainly the oil analyzers which are essential to a good and remote control of these processes.
B) Deoiling of disposal water
Two field tests of pilot are in progress beginning 93 : the most important in Vic-Bilh in order to confirm the reliability of the process with hydrocyclone, the second at the Lacq Plant in order to identify the operational limits of the analyzer for measuring hydrocarbon in water.
C) Gas treatment
Two field tests of pilot are in progress beginning 93 : the first one in Vic Bihl evaluates the reliability of two pumphead technologies of the pump for injection of glycol, the most critical component of the dehydration process by glycol; the second one installed in Lassagnet, aims at comparing the field reliability and behaviour of several water dew point analyzers in a gas stream.
D) Automated pigging
The engineering file is ready for a future realization.
E) Gas lift compression
The centrifugal solution of a gas lift compressor with large compression factor and very limited flow, makes still necessary experimental checking before deciding the construction of a pilot.
F) High speed electrical motor
Following successful laboratory test of a partial prototype, the feasibility of a high speed electrical motor has been demonstrated, but the realization of a pilot is linked to the uncertain success of the centrifugal compressor for gas lift that is supposed to be directly driven by it.
G) Optimized real time control system (gas field)
The validation of the demonstration model of SCOOTER GAS gave a first evaluation of the capabilities of this new type of advanced control system with real time expert system.
H) Optimized real time control system (oil field)
Developed in cooperation with AGIP, the pilot SCOOTER OIL will be partially installed in 93; tests with simulator of the demonstration model showed fair results of the expert system part, but showed disappointing results of the algorithm part for the validation of sensor outputs.
I) Detection of shock and explosion
The initial technology selected for the shock detection led to a dead lock and experimental tests are necessary for the validation of detection of submarine explosion.
J) Safety system
The new architecture resulting from the study for the integration of the safety and control systems is still to be validated by operational team as well as the corresponding methodology; several pilots in field tests in France and offshore Norway, of optical safety detection sensors have alrady given some encouraging results.
K) Monitoring/surveillance
The prototype of the detection system for intruders has been prequalified after long duration tests; main technical solutions have been identified for the other functions of monitoring/surveillance.
J) Telecommunication
Solutions by Hertzian links or by optical sub-marine cable have been selected.
The project aims at progressively integrating the results of studies performed in PLATINE Phase I, Phase II and Phase III projects. The facilities have been divided into 7 main sub-systems : 4 production sub-systems (gas-lift, sea water injection, separation-treatment, well pumping) and 3 sub-systems non specific to oil industry (energy/rotating machinery, safety/reliability, automation systems).
In addition to the eight pilot chapters treated in the PLATINE Phase III contract, thirteen pilot chapters make up the principal part of PLATINE Phase IV, with the following programme :
A) Separation and oil treatment :
assessment of this basic function in connection with unmanned operation.
B) Deoiling of disposal water :
realization of two pilots, the first one testing the hydrocyclone process with a feed pump, the second one testing an oily water analyzer.
C) Gas treatment :
realization of two pilots, the first one testing a pump for the injection of TEG in a gas dehydrating process, the second one testing gas analyzers for water dew point.
D) Automated pigging :
design of an automated pigging system.
E) Gas lift compression :
feasibility study of a centrifugal compressor.
F) High speed electric motor :
test of a prototype.
G) Optimized real time control system (gas field) :
realization of a demonstration model of SCOOTER GAS
H) Optimized real time control system (oil field) :
realization of a pilot of SCOOTER OIL
I) Shock detection :
feasibility study of detection and shock and submarine explosion.
J) Safety system :
study of an interpreted safety and control system; realization of pilots of safety sensors.
K) Monitoring/surveillance :
testing of a prototype for detection of intruders; assessment of other surveillance functions.
L) Telecommunication :
assessment of the different technical solutions.
M) Equipment :
assessment and survey of different equipment and systems concerning mainly instrumentation and valves; realization of various pilots.
Besides the pilots, the programme included the issues of specifications for unmanned platform, after a survey of existing safety regulation regarding offshore platforms.
