Objective The purpose of the project is to evaluate different eor processes potentially applicable to the depleted oil field of cortemaggiore, a conventional light oil reservoir exploited since 1949.Carbon dioxide miscible displacement and vaporisation of the residual oil into cycled natural gas were the only eor processes which resulted as technically feasible. Miscellar-polymer processes can be applied in principle, but the surfactant able to cope with the high-salinity reservoir brine is very expensive.Workovers in some wells, which has been abandoned, and drilling of one infill well resulted in a sizeable production of oil, which is still continuing at present.A new reservoir study, carried out using a synergetic reservoir geology/reservoir engineering approach, laboratory studies on reservoir oil additioned with c02, n2, natural gas, displacement tests on cores at reservoir conditions using miscellar-polymer cushions and numerical model simulations were carried out.
