Objective Single-layer fast-firing kiln has been identified as being a major opportunity for the saving of energy by reducing firing times this technology has been applied for the firing of holloware in the pottery industry. The project intends to demonstrate that the same technology can be applied to stacked flat tableware. The new system comprises two tunnel kilns, one for biscuit ware and one for glost ware production. Each with its own automatic ware storatge and feed system. The kilns are in operation 24 h/day, 7 days/week but are loaded and unloaded in a 8 h. shift. The innovation resides in the application to mixed (including flat tableware).
