SUBSEA TREE WITH REMOTE INTERVENTION

Objective

The objective of the Subsea Tree with Remote Intervention (STRI) project is to achieve the acceptance of remote intervention within subsea production eauipment design. This will be achieved by the development of a fully maintainable subsea production tree.
The tree will be suitable for intervention by ROV based maintenance systems throughout the production life of a well. The design must allow low cost field development and reduced operating costs.
The tree will be designed in accordance with specified principles for intervention. The results will be confirmed by installing and testing the tree on a North Sea production well. The detailed specification and design of the tree will be in accordance with the requirements of a sponsoring oil company.
No details about the results pertaining to the project are available. No work has yet been undertaken.
A subsea installation and its intervention system comprise three main assemblies, the Subsea Production Tree, an ROV Toolskid and a Remotely Operated Tool. The last two items are currently being developed under the IISSPE project currently being undertaken by SISL. The Subsea Production Tree is the subject of this project and will have the following major design requirements.
10000psi, 5-1/8" x 2-1/16" dual bore tree presenting a worst case for component level intervention.
Complex arrangement with control valves having defined tree positions and selected as required by the application.
Standard tree components to allow early commercial use of the tree whilst minimising tree development risks.
Satellite tree suitable for production, gas lift and injection configurations and template or manifold applications.
Minimal subsea equipment hardwqre specifications, utilising ROV Intervention as the primary back-up.
Vertical lift of heavy, replaceable components from upper tree face locations.
Clear access at two opposits tree faces for ROV intervention.
The project comprises several distinct phases.
