Objectif Formerly, the pressure equalization gas at Blast nr. 7 was blown-off.Measures have been taken to regain this useful BF-gas.At the end of 1985 plans were made at Hoogovens for modification of the existing top of HO7 and the installation of a 'Paul Wurthtop'.(system for the equalization of exhaust gas)In connection with these plans a number of cheaper solutions were put forward relating to maintenance, inspection and system automation. The plant been functioned though not at optimum performance, in accordance with the cheaper and temporary steps, since May 1986.Information on the installation of the "Paul Wurthtop" and its effect on performance is not available.A gas cleaning system is installed in which the equlization gas from the space between the bells of the top of the blast furnace is cleaned and reduced in pressure. Then, the cleaned gas is injected into the BF-gas system.The project is in operation since May 1986.The gas recovery yield is 80 %.The gas recovery per ton pig iron produced is 11.7 Nm3.
