SOLAR BUILDING WITH VENTILATION AIR PREHEATING

Objectif

Demonstration of a new air heating system based on solar air collectors which are used to pre-heat the air. The system should yield 30 % of energy savings per year. Total solar area 184 m2, 8 m2 per apartment.
The commercial aspect shows that the potential buyers of apartments are reluctant to the fact that no south facing windows exist. The French agency for Energy Consumption (AFME) has organized the monitoring campaign made by Centre Scientifique et Technique du Batiment.
The installation is now out of operation due to low cost of fuel.
The building site is in the area of greater Paris. The four buildings have a total number of 104 flats. One of the buildings is equipped with a solar air system for 23 dwellings. The building is very well insulated and the exhaust air is joined to a static recuperation system. The flats have 3, 4 or 5 rooms with a total volume of 4583 m3.
The air changing rate is calculated at 1,14 times per hour (1 time/h is the regulation). The main rooms represent 63% of the total volume.
The ventilation has a volume of 3300 m3/h. The solar collectors cover the entire south facing wall of the building. Total solar area 184 m2, tilt 90 deg.facing south.
