REMOTE, AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLED HYDRO POWER STATION

Objetivo

To demonstrate the benefits of a small hydro station using a local energy source in a remote, relatively underdeveloped area, and to support the national grid at an extreme point. The anticipated annual energy output is 12,000,000 kwh and the total cost per unit produced is 4. 27 drs/kwh
The project was delayed due to adverse weather conditions preventing the preparation of the necessary topographical and geotechnical maps and there are no technical results so far.
An existing 25 kw hydro installation is to be replaced by a 2600 kw power station. The new station will consists of two identical Pelton turbine generating sets, suitable for remote and automatic control. Technical data :
Penstock : Length 3 km
Diameter 1000mm
Turbine : Type 2-jet Pelton
Head 200m (nett)
Flow Average 0. 4m3/s
Maximum 0. 75m3/s
Speed 750 rev/min
Generator : Type Synchronous
Rating 1450 kva (0. 9 p. f. )
Voltage 6 kv, 50 hz
Transformer : Rating 3000 kva
Voltage 6/15 kv
General : Operation 6500 hours/year under varying loads
Load factor 0. 5 due to variation in steam flow
The electricity produced will be fed to the National Grid System.
