Objectif The construction of a barrage hydroelectric station which will demonstrate two novel concepts in the arrangement of axial flow turbines. The designs are specifically aimed for use by developing countries in rural areas or in areas of weak industrial activity. The major feature in each arrangement is the siting of the two turbine shaft bearing outside of the hydraulic circuit.The anticipated annual energy production of the project is 2.000.000 kWh and the total unit cost will be 1,014 for a periode 50 years; 1,53 for a periode 25 years.The obtained results fit with the objectives defined during the preliminaries studies.The power station installed on the Mornimont's dam includes 4 Kaplan turbines turning at 250 rpm and driving a 150 kW generator at a speed of 1500 rpm. This speed is obtained with a multiplier planet gear with a scale factor of 1 to 6.Each turbine is equipped with a guillotine sluice with inflatable joint which provides a absolute watertightness as soon as the turbine is stopped.The shutter's sluiced closes automatically without any energy supply. This shutter is manoeuvred by a hydraulic jack. The principal ball bearings of the turbine is at its superior part and is easily accessible. So, its replacement is carry out without any dismantling of other pieces of the turbine. The power station is led by a computer which puts the turbines in working or stops them in accordance with constraints fixed by the fluvial navigation.
