OPTIMISATION OF REMOTE CONTROL OF HEATING PLANTS IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS WITH A CENTRALLY COMPUTERISED DATA PROCESSING

Objective

Optimization of remote centralized control of technical plants in 15 public buildings managed by the municipality of Nantes: town hall, museum, greenhouses, theatre, schools, swimming-pool, etc...
The previous energy consumption of these buildings (bulk figure) is 2569 TOE/year. A classical remote energy control should allow a 10.3% energy saving (i.e. 266 TOE/year) and the centralized analysis of data should allow a further 4% savings, i.e. 94 additional TOE/year. The pay back time of the project should be less than 5 years and possibly 2.5 years at the commercial level.

The innovative feature of the project lies in the connection of a centralized automatic data analysis device to the existing remote control plant.
The different possible actions of this centralised automatic system are :
- measurement of temperatures and flow rates
- status of the equipments of the heating plants
- control of the equipments
Transmission of data between the centralised and the local systems are performed in real time. This allows a very sharp and immediate analysis of all transmitted data. A comparison between actual data and theoretical working of boilers should allow an instantaneous action in case of misfunctioning.
