2 MW WIND FARM FOR RETHYMNO

Obiettivo

To establish a 2 MW wind farm near the town of Rethymno, Crete. The project's main innovative features are :
a. the uprated to 250 kW the DANWIN 200 kW wind turbines and the partial manufacturing of the machines by PYRKAL in Greece,
b. is the first large wind farm to be build in Greece.

The 2 MW (8 x 250) wind farm will be located in the Rethymno region in Crete. This wind farm will comprise eight x 250 KW WT's made by DANWIN and PYRKAL (partial construction of at least one wind turbine).
The 250 kW DANWIN is three-bladed, stall regulated, grid connected propoller-type wind turbine, with 26 m rotor diameter. The generator is induction type with 4 poles, based on the top of the 30 m high close tube steel tower. The airbrakes are hydraulicly activated and serve as normal operating brake. The mechanical brake is fail-safe with 2 inverse acting calipers on the cast brake disc.
The generated electricity will be mainly used by the sewage plant of Rethymno and by the water pumping stations of DEYAR, which is the Rethymno Water and Sewage Municipal Company.
Most of the generated electricity will be used to cover own consumption needs and the rest will be sold to PPC (Public Power Corporation).
For an annual average wind velocity 7,5 m/s at the rotor height the estimatedannual total energy output is 5.428.000 kWhs, with an estimated cost of kWh of 5,34 Drs which has to be compared with 11 Drs of the conventional one.
