INSTALLATION OF INNOVATIVE ULTRA HIGH EFFICIENCY CONDENSING GAS BOILERS IN HEALTH CARE PREMISES

Objective

To produce space heating and Domestic Hot Water in Health Care premises by more efficient condensing gas boilers (using L.P.G.). These are quite new to the market in Ireland and untried in a Health Care environment.
The smaller (23 kW units) are quite satisfactory and efficient; the larger "Combat" units (264/320 kW units) are less dependable and require further adjustments to the controls.
The project provides for the installation of condensing high efficiency Gas Boilers to replace oil-burners or solid-fuel boilers in eight locations. A typical installation consists of condensing boiler units connected through a control loop to a vertical compensating vessel.
The project has three phases :
Phase 1 - Design, Contract and Tender - ending February 1992
Phase 3 - Installation - Commissioning ending May, 1992
Phase 3 - Monitor - Evaluation ending April, 1994.
It is planned, subject to Tender Cost and approved allocations to provide for the removal of old plant, to make place for the new installations and improve the overall layout and maintenance of the boilerhouse/plantrooms.
