The use of ergonomics to overcome problems associated with the introduction of new technology at a hot-rolled wide strip line - control stand for hot-rolled wide strip line

Cel

Aim of project:

Taking into account human-computer interaction, the main aim is to compile a catalogue of ergonomic recommendations - applicable to other companies as well - for the design of screen masks in process visualization tasks taking account of human parameters and analyses.

The following procedures and methods are to be adopted:

Formation of an interdisciplinary working party.
Study of the workplace by means of a work system description, questionnaire and time studies.
Development of a mask animation programme to simulate and visualize on screen real measurement data from the rolling process. The programme will be used to simulate the four masks designed on the Coros 2000 system.
Subjective assessment of masks by test subjects in a questionnaire. Recording of the individual performance of workers on various control tasks by means of psychological tests.
Statistical evaluation of test data.
Study of literature on 'process visualization', taking particular account of cognitive factors.

Subject of research:

The electro-mechanical adjusting equipment for the seven-stand finishing train on a hot-rolled wide strip line is to make way for computerized hydraulic adjusting equipment. This new technology requires the replacement of the Contraves switches and digital displays for data input and output by keyboards and colour monitors to visualize the process data.
